Rosco Participates at NTSB Countermeasures for Distraction Forum and NYS Truck Safety Expo to Raise Awareness on the Dangers of Distracted Driving

Jamaica, NY - March 29, 2012 -On Tuesday, March 27th, Rosco Vision Systems participated in both the National Transportation Safety Board’s (NTSB) Attentive Driving – Countermeasures for Distraction Forum in Washington DC and the New York State Motor Truck Association’s Truck Safety Education Symposium and Safety Exhibition in Albany, New York. Rosco sent staff operational and informational exhibits regarding the Dual-Vision™ Continuous Dual Video Recording System to support the effort to eliminate distracted driving.

Distracted driving is a serious safety risk on our highways, as evidenced by both accident data and laboratory research. The purpose of the NTSB one-day forum was to examine countermeasures that can mitigate distracted driving behaviors. Forum panels considered the findings of distracted driver research and will promote ongoing and future efforts to eliminate distracted driving accidents. Specific countermeasures addressed included distracted driving laws and enforcement, changing attitudes and behaviors through education and outreach, and technology and design countermeasures. NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman served as Chair of the forum and, together with other board members, met with Rosco to receive a presentation on Dual-Vision™.

The New York Truck Safety Education Symposium and Safety Exhibition agenda topics included Fostering an Environment of Good Judgment, Determining Preventability in an Accident, The Distracted Driving Epidemic, and The Realities of Distracted Driving.

The Rosco Dual-Vision™ Continuous Dual Video Recording System provides all the benefits of event-based recording with the added benefit of continuous recording of driver behavior. This enables fleets to review videos of driver behavior and identify risky behavior before an event occurs. This sort of “Prevent the Event” solution can reduce the risk that a catastrophic event will happen instead of reacting to one after its occurrence.
