The Vision Quest Bus Tour Featuring Mobileye Shield+ Technology Is Coming to a City Near You

QUEENS, NY--(Marketwired - July 07, 2015) - This July, Rosco's Vision Quest bus starts its journey on a three-week tour around the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions of the country, starting in Delaware and ending with demos at Mcity during the Automated Vehicles Symposium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The main focus during the Vision Quest bus tour will be the advanced Mobileye Shield+ Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection Technology and how it can be used to achieve Vision Zero.

Vision Zero is a worldwide safety initiative that has also been adopted in the New York City Metro area whose mission is to end traffic deaths and injuries that occur on busy intersections and streets.

Rosco has equipped the Vision Quest demonstration bus with the Mobileye Shield+ pedestrian detection technology. Shield+ is an amazingly simple LEFT, CENTER, and RIGHT alarm interface that communicates audio and visual alerts to drivers based on the location of pedestrians and the severity of a possible incident. Utilizing an intelligent camera sensor that works like a bionic eye, the system identifies a diverse and extensive variety of potential dangers on the road, such as vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and more. When danger is imminent, visual and audible alerts warn the driver to make necessary corrections in sufficient time to avoid potential collisions or mitigate their severity.

The Vision Quest bus is continuing its national tour, making stops in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and finally, Michigan. During this three-week tour, the Vision Quest bus will make a stop at Capitol Hill for a ride & drive during an Autonomous Vehicle Technology Briefing and will also be part of live demonstrations at Mcity during the Automated Vehicles Symposium in Ann Arbor. These demos give riders a firsthand experience of the Shield+ Technology and the integral role it can play in achieving Vision Zero. The Vision Quest bus demonstrates how the unique safety requirements of transit, school, and other large vehicle operations can be addressed with the application of innovative technology.
