Position Summary

Rosco Vision Systems is seeking an Injection Molding Mold Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of injection molding molds by performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The objective of this position is to minimize mold downtime and maintain mold quality, ensuring production is not affected by downtime.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance: Perform regular inspections according to the PM and PD maintenance schedules to reduce mold downtime in a timely manner. 
  • Assemble/disassemble mold components including cores, cavities, base plates, sliders, lifters, and ejector systems according to engineering specifications and drawings. 
  • Perform mold repairs, including but not limited to parting line (flash) repair, welding, hot runner repairs, elector system repairs, and complete mold refurbishments, etc. 
  • Perform precision fitting using manual and CNC tools and equipment in the Tool Room. 
  • Verify clearances, alignment, and operation of moving parts in assembles molds. 
  • Ensure conformance to specifications utilizing CMM, height gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices to adjust tools, to produce drawing specified dimensions, and ensure overall quality. 
  • Manufacture spare parts for molds using equipment in the Tool Room to further eliminate mold downtime. 
  • Follow safety regulations and procedures. 
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, work order requests, and parts inventory. 
  • Communicate with engineers, supervisors, and molding supervisors: Coordinate maintenance activities and address any issues in a timely manner. 
  • Support injection molding production: Duties include but are not limited to troubleshooting poor performance of molding machine due to mold-related issues currently setup on the machine. 

Education and Experience

  • 5 years' experience as an Injection Molding Mold Maintenance Technician
  • Inspection experience and ability to use precision measuring devices for overall quality. 
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of engineering drawings pertaining to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to injection molding molds. 
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and solve problems effectively and efficiently. Ability to read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with all team members. 
  • Safety: Follow safety procedures and regulations related to molds and Tool Room equipment. 
  • Record Keeping Skills: Ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. Computer skills required: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to enter records in an ERP maintenance program.
