Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping outgoing orders accurately and on time. This role ensures all shipments are properly documented, labeled, and compliant with company policies and carrier requirements while maintaining an organized shipping area.

Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to order specifications
- Verify items, quantities, and shipping information for accuracy
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and bills of lading
- Schedule pickups with carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight carriers, etc.)
- Maintain shipping logs and update shipment status in inventory or ERP systems
- Inspect packages for damage and ensure proper packaging standards
- Communicate with customer service, warehouse, and production teams regarding shipping needs
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays or damaged goods issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping area
- Follow company procedures and safety guidelines
Required Skills & Abilities
- Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software; familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are a plus
- Data entry experience
- Filing experience
- Familiarity with database software
- Ability to read work orders, packing lists, and shipping documents
- Ability to lift and move packages (typically up to 50 lbs.)
- Good communication, organizational and time management skills
- Forklift certification is a plus
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in shipping
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
- Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
- Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay and squat in order to unload freight
- Must be able to occasionally withstand high and low temperatures if applicable
