Introducing Innovative Backup Camera System for Paratransit, Shuttle, and Transit Buses
Queens, NY - January 31, 2013 –The revolutionary Smart-Vision™ Backup Camera System transforms Paratransit, Shuttle, and Transit buses' interior rear view mirrors into enhanced safety tools with a 7-inch LCD monitor that is automatically displayed on the interior rearview mirror when the vehicle shifts into reverse, thus allowing the driver to see directly behind the bus. Large buses equipped with the Smart-Vision™ Backup Camera Systems have options for multiple cameras including side cameras and interior cameras. Automatically, the full mirror view changes to an ultra-bright monitor view and part mirror view based on the operational conditions of the bus or the preference of the driver. The rearview mirror/monitor comes in three different bus sizes: 6” X 16”, 6” X 30”, and 10” x 30”.“The Smart-Vision™ Backup Camera System is perfect for large buses backing into tight spots or moving in reverse when visibility is limited. It also has the capacity for additional interior and side cameras – “It provides firm and unequivocal confirmation to the driver that the path behind the bus is clear and that no pedestrians have entered into the danger zone”, said Peter Plate, Rosco’s Director of Sales & Marketing.
The Smart-Vision™ Rear View Camera System interior rearview mirror/monitor is installed the same as any other large bus interior rearview mirror. Likewise, the backup cameras and harnesses are installed simply like any traditional camera system. Rosco, Inc. began shipments this January of the new Smart-Vision™ Rearview Mirror/Monitor Backup Camera System for paratransit, shuttle, and transit buses.
With safety a priority in public transportation, backing up large transit or shuttle buses creates a potentially dangerous situation. The combination of limited visibility and the need to maneuver around passengers, pedestrians, and other vehicles has the potential for disaster. Bus drivers have relied on safety protocols, such as backup alarms, four-way hazard lights and horns, and the use of adult spotters as recommended by the National Safety Council (NSC). However, the Smart-Vision™ Rear View Camera System is a more advanced driver aid for Paratransit, Shuttle, and Transit buses that includes a camera mounted on the back of the bus, sending images to a monitor installed inside the rearview mirror of the bus.
Smart-Vision™ Rear View Camera Systems prevent injuries and save lives. An efficient backup camera can also end up saving large bus fleets money by preventing accidents, expensive repairs and insurance claims. Considering the nominal cost, Rosco Rear View Camera Systems have become a necessity for commercial fleets when considering that the average backing collision claim costs thousands of dollars if just the vehicle or property has been damaged and hundreds of thousands if not millions, if a personal injury occurs. Rosco is a leader in the rearview camera industry and offers a wide selection of products designed to improve the safety of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
